About

Born to Cuban and German parents René’s first language is Spanish. In the early 90’s he lived in Mexico for three years during which time he rekindled his passion for Mexican cuisine. Taught by Doña Esperanza, a Mayan elder, René learned to appreciate and understand the complexities of indigenous food.
Practicing what he learned when he returned to Canada he delighted family and friends who urged him to perfect the salsa.
Pica Salsa is named after his infant son who, unable to pronounce the Spanish word, picante salsa, called the salsa “Pica” – and Pica Salsa was born.

René “Sans” Salsa
Using the finest natural ingredients René uses locally grown tomatoes, blending together Serrano peppers, cilantro, garlic, fresh lime juice and salt.
René prides himself on creating a traditional Salsa without ("sans") additives or preservatives.

René hopes that you will enjoy eating his  salsa as much as he has enjoyed creating it and sharing it with you.
